Evaluation of blogging

After creating my blog I have been able to see how blogging can be used in the industry for many reasons. Some graphic designers and illustrators use there blogs as a portfolio of their work where other artists and people like me can look at their work and use their work as inspiration, some of the artists are very welcoming and allow people to look at there work and help us by telling us what techniques they used and what they think of it themselves. Other artists use blogs as an advertisement of their work, they leave contact details on the blog or their actual website link which makes it very useful for their work to be advertised and make them more known worldwide. I have been using my blog as a portfolio of my work and during these two years on the course I will be regularly updating my blog to show my recent work, the artists I like or recent exhibitions I went to.
After starting my own blog and studying blogs made by others I have realised that blogs offer many opportunities. They are a great chance to show off your work and communicate with others that use blogging as a portfolio of their work. If someone was in an interview and was trying to promote themselves it would be much easier to take them a link along of their blog instead of taking their portfolio.
With my own blog I decided to keep it simple, because I thought that it would look professional and make my blog easier to follow. I decided to make it simple because after I reviewed other blogs I realised that the busy blogs are the ones harder to follow and read. I was overall happy with the layout, colours and general look of the blog as grey is a very simple colour.
